Passing the Pitchfreaks 10 Second Pitch Challenge is not easy, but we want you to succeed. We conduct a free 5 Day Challenge each week where we walk you through the Pitchfreaks 3-Step Winning Pitch Framework. Join us on Clubhouse to train with us and get the support you need to achieve your sales goals.
Â
Who can participate?
Pitchfreaks! 10 Second Pitch Challenge is open to all people with access to the Clubhouse app. While the challenge requires a speaking performance, we make accommodations for our friends in the Disability Community.
Â
How we pick who gets to speak?
There is no cost nor financial obligation to participate in the Pitchfreaks 10 Second Pitch Challenge. We prioritize participants based upon the time and effort they have spent training with us during our free weekday training calls.
Â
This event is 60 minutes. As a result, there is only time for a maximum of 7 People to participate in the challenge each week, therefore priority is given to openings in the following order:
- People who have been on stage and trained with us on each of the 3 steps as well as our pitch assembly day.
- People who regularly attend the room and want to give it a go (not including MODS)
- New audience members joining us for the first time (You get 1 chance to pitch, with no mulligans/do-overs)
- MODs
- Pitchfreaks who have previously past the 10 Second Pitch Challenge
Â
What are the criteria for success?
Your pitch needs to meet each criteria of the 3-Step Winning Pitch Framework AND be delivered in a maximum of 10 Seconds (30 Words or less)Â as timed by the Pitchfreak, Antonio White.
Â
How to deliver your pitch on Pitch Day
Â
- Â Be ready on stage for your turn to pitch. Eliminate distractions so that you have the best chance for success.
- Â Put your phone in DO NOT DISTURBÂ MODE. If you do not and you get a phone call, you will be taking time away from others who wish to pitch.
-  Be mindful of your turn to pitch. You get 3 seconds to activate your mic when called to pitch. If you do not activate your mic within the time frame, we will move on to the next participant and return to you if time permits. If you have a disability, please let us know at the beginning of the event so that we can accommodate you, which may include offering you extra time to activate your mic. When invited to pitch, you will be asked by the Pitchfreak! if you’re ready to face the Pitchfreaks. The standard response is, “Yes.” Or “I’m ready.” This greeting is meant to get you laser-focused on the task at-hand. If for whatever reason you are not ready, you can tell us to skip your turn and we’ll return to you if time permits.
- Have Fun! This is meant to be fun! Don’t argue with results from judges, it takes away from other people who wish to participate. Remember, WE WANT YOU TO PASS, so if for whatever reason you don’t pass the Pitchfreaks today, you’re welcome to come back and try again. If it’s important for you to pass, then take the suggestions and come back again next time.
- Passing the Pitchfreak! This is meant to be a celebration of you doing the hard work to focusing your message on what matters most to your qualified prospects. We have participants who have raised $MILLIONS and did not pass the Pitchfreak!
 Â
We get it, for many people this can be a bit nerve-racking. Remember, this is a fun exercise meant for your benefit and we are here to support you. We want you to pass!
When delivering your pitch, this is what Pitchfreaks are looking for:
Â
Pitchfreaks!™ 10 Second Challenge Rules:
Â
- A pitch of 30 words or less in English (until we have better natural language translation support)
- A pitch that is spoken by you and presented in 10 Seconds or less
- Any pitch over 12 Seconds disqualifies the participant from moving forward, unless they have an available Mulligan/Do-over. Every participant who trains with the Pitchfreaks during our free training calls will receive 1 Mulligan/Do-Over. If you have not trained with the Pitchfreaks, you do not receive a do-over. Pitchfreaks who are making a new pitch receive no Mulligan/Do-Over, they can only be voted forward by fellow Pitchfreaks as long as their pitch did not exceed the 12 second disqualification limit.
- Your pitch MUST include the words, “Are you…” within your first sentence. Do not use attention getting gimmicks in your Introduction. You MUST present your pitch as if you are inviting a friend or loved one for a cup of coffee or slice of chocolate cake.
- Your pitch MUST meet the following 3 conditions for a Pitchfreaks-Level pitch
- VALUE: You must articulate your value –from your prospect’s point of view.
- EMOTION: Your pitch should make an emotional connection by indicating that your offering will provide either JOY or RELIEF for your prospective customer.
- INVITATION: Your pitch must offer an invitation or gentle call to action that meets the following 3 conditions:
- The invitation must be easy to understand.
- The instructions must be easy to follow.
- There must be a benefit for your prospect to take action.
Â
Before you Pitch Remember the following Pitchfreak No-Nos:
Â
- Do not begin your pitch with, “My name is…”Â
- Do not mention the name of your business nor your role in your company.
- Do not begin your pitch with a “Story Stack”. A Story Stack is a meandering story used to give context to your pitch. If you are offering something of value, a qualified audience will already be familiar with the challenge addressed by your solution. Story Stacking includes anything you do to add context to your pitch --avoid this by not beginning your pitch by talking about your education, career, nor your personal trauma nor the trauma of others.Â
- This is not an episode of SharkTank, designed for dramatic value on TV. Qualified investors and customers care first about their benefit of buying, not your benefit in selling.
Â
What you need to cover in your pitch to pass the Pitchfreaks:
Â
- Start your pitch with the words “Are you…” make sure to identify your specific audience and engage them by sharing that you have something that solves a challenge they have spent money on in the past. (Tip 1: make this pitch as personal as you can to your intended customer/investor). (Tip 2: avoid gimmicks and “salesy” lead-ins such as, “attn”, “what if”, or “imagine”. Keep in mind, your pitch is not a TedTalk, it’s a process designed specifically to get others to take action. Remember it’s better to be clear than clever.”
- Determine if your customers would experience “joy” or “relief” as a result of using your product or service. There is no wrong answer— and you can always switch—but you must choose one or the other. (Tip: Being a smarty pants and choosing both signals you may have a lack of clarity in your customer understanding. Also, by not making a choice, you lose the opportunity to leverage joy or relief words in that shape your brand message. Based upon your decision, express to your audience a sense of the joy or relief they can have as a result of working with your business.
- Your pitch is not complete without offering your qualified audience an invitation to learn more about your offering. This invitation should be made in the same way that you would offer a friend or loved one an invite for a cup of coffee or slice of chocolate cake.Â
- Your invitation requires three criteria for success: First, it must be easy to understand (no jargon nor confusing words). Second, the action you’re asking your audience to take must be easy to follow (don’t make your customer jump through too many hoops). Lastly, the action should offer the audience a benefit.
- Avoid manipulative language and high-pressure tactics, such as guilt, shame, and fear in your invitation.
- Your pitch should be conversational. You don’t have to be the most charismatic person to be successful in business. Just be yourself. Authenticity builds credibility and trust.Â
- Any Pitch over 12 Seconds will be disqualified, although every participant will have the opportunity for a second-chance. We call it a Mulligan. There is no Mulligan in the final pitch with the Pitchfreak
- You can not face the Pitchfreak without having an invitation / Call to action.Â
- Passing the Pitchfreak is not the point of the challenge, it's simply a fun event to demonstrate what you've learned during the weekly training.
- We're here for you. All are welcome. We're here to support you.

- I’m a member of the disability community, are there any accommodations available to me? Yes, we have many members of the Disability Community in the Pitchfreaks Club. We are here to support anyone who dreams of being a founder and is willing to do the work. Let us know in chat or backchannel how we can accommodate you best.
- Do I have to pay to come on stage? No, there is no cost nor obligation to come on stage. From time to time there are special offers made available but there is never pressure to buy.

- You are required to make a minimum of 3 pitches to the MODs on stage and a final Pitch to The Pitchfreak! Antonio White. If you can not stay for the whole hour, please DO NOT come on stage and allow another founder to have a chance. You are welcome to join us another time.
